Characters (and real-life people) have unique attributes called traits. Part of what defines you are the genetic traits you were born with, or the character traits you have developed. Who do you want to be? You are not at the mercy of character traits--they are your's for the choosing. Use the following list of character traits as a starting point to analyze what traits you already possess, and what traits you would like to have. Look at the people around you. What traits are a big part of who they are? Which traits do you admire? Why? Which traits do you not want to have associated with your name? When writing book reports and essays about the different characters you've read about, consider what character traits you can identify. Words and actions can often tell you about a real or fictional character. Don't stop with this list, though. You can probably think of many more terms to describe yourself, people you know, and the characters you run across in books. |
