Together

By Madilyn Lyons

So lost, So confused

So broken

Our feelings are enclosed

Our words go unspoken

Divorce, Time, and Death

Came knocking on our door

We welcomed our guests

And never thought much more

Time changed us all

For better or for worse

The splitting of our family?

We all blamed it on divorce

Death took its toll

And weeping played its role

Through all that we had lost

And with all the dangerous costs

We shouldn’t, couldn’t, and wouldn’t fall

But instead we would together

Stand up, straight and tall.
